The Central Government has told in the Parliament that the Railways has so far earned Rs 600 crore in the form of convenience fee in 2022-23. This amount is recovered from the passengers on cancellation of tickets. As per the Railway Passengers (Cancellation of Tickets and Refund of Fare) Rules, 2015, cancellation or clerkage charges are levied on cancellation of tickets, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told Lok Sabha in a written reply.

Rs 2 crore compensation for wrong haircut: Court

The Supreme Court has said that compensation of Rs 2 crore for wrongly chopping a model’s hair is excessive. Saying this, the apex court set aside the order of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on the suffering and loss of income caused to the model in 2018 for wrongly chopping her hair at a hotel salon in Delhi. Actually, a salon of ITC had wrongly cut the hair of model Aashna Roy.
Supreme Court will hear against the acquittal of the culprits
The Supreme Court will review the acquittal of three death row convicts in the 2012 gang-rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl in Delhi’s Chhawla area. On the petition of Delhi Police, the Supreme Court has agreed to constitute a 3-member bench.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the bench of CJI DY Chandrachud, “A person who was recently acquitted by the court slit the throat of a person. The acquitted accused are dreaded criminals, so we are requesting review of last year’s verdict. The decision of acquittal was given by the then CJI UU Lalit’s bench.
Sexual abuse of third class student in Delhi government school, sports teacher arrested
A case of sexual abuse has come to light from a Class III student in a Municipal Corporation school in New Ashok Nagar area in East Delhi. In view of the complaint, the police on Wednesday registered a case for rape, threatening and under the POCSO Act. The accused, Umakant resident of Ghadauli village extension, aged 45 years, has been arrested.
According to the police, on Wednesday, a PCR call was received regarding this matter, in which it was told that a girl has been sexually assaulted in a government school in New Ashok Nagar area. On knowing this, the police reached the school. Here the girl’s parents told that their daughter is a third grade student in this school.
379 candidates including 37 women filed nominations in Meghalaya
A total of 379 candidates, including 60 sitting MLAs, have filed nominations for the elections to the 60-member Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. Of these, 37 are women. The ruling National People’s Party President and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will seek re-election from Dakshin Tura in West Garo Hills district. Former CM Mukul Sangma is contesting this time from Trinamool Congress from Songsak and Tikrikila in West Garo Hills.
‘Deploy para legal volunteers in police stations to help children’
New Delhi | Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) will now be appointed in all police stations of Delhi to help the victim in cases related to missing children and crimes against children. In this regard, a campaign was launched by Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi’s organization ‘Bachpan Bachao Andolan’. On the petition related to this, the Delhi High Court has directed the State Legal Services Authority to take necessary steps. On the instructions of the High Court, the authority had appointed PLVs in 50 sensitive police stations of Delhi.
